Gynaecology
All referrals must meet the criteria as set within the Statewide Referral Criteria. Please check the website for further information.
Any referrals received not meeting this criteria will be returned.
Details of Service:
The Gynaecology services at Western Health Bacchus Marsh and Melton are Medicare Benefit Scheme (MBS) funded. They are bulk billed and therefore there is no out of pocket fee associated with this service. Please ensure that all referrals have a clinicians name on it or it will be unable to be accepted.
The service provides support for the following conditions:
- Chronic Vulvovaginal Candidiasis
- Dysmenorrhoea
- Pelvic Pain
- Painful Periods
- Fibroids
- Heave or irregular mensus
- Intermenstrual or Post Coital Bleeding
- Menopause
- Ovairian cysts
- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
- Post – Menopausal Bleeding
- Pruritus Vulvae
- Vulval and Vaginal Pain
The following gynaecological problems will require referral to a tertiary level facility:
- Diethystilboestrol (DES) exposure (for surveillance)
- Gynaecological cancers
- Fibroid management requiring Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound
- Menopause symptoms after cancer
- Infertility requiring Reproductive Services

Please ensure that all recent blood tests, pathology etc are attached to the referrals.
