Day Medical

Service Descriptions

Day Medical provides a same-day in-patient service for the administration of chemotherapy as prescribed by the Western Health Oncologist and Blood and blood products as prescribed by the Western Health Haematologists. Other treatments that can safely be infused in a day setting are also considered via WH treatment team. Day Medical is staffed by Oncologists and Registered Nurses trained in the administration of cytotoxic agents The unit is also supported by Allied Health staff and Patient Services Assistants employed at Melton Health.

Eligibility

Patients requiring infusions and transfusions that can be safely given in a Day setting.

Access hours

Tuesday to Thursday and alternate Mondays between 9.00am to 5.00pm

Referral process

All referrals are accepted by an internal Western Health medical stream.

Please note: Day Medical at Melton does not accept GP referrals for iron infusions.
