General Information - Allied Health & Nursing Services

Referrals are accepted from doctors, allied health (ie your physiotherapist), hospitals, My Aged Care, nurses and you.

All referrals are triaged into the following timeframes:

  • Urgent – you will receive a phone call to arrange an appointment
  • Waiting List – you will receive a letter notifying you that you have been placed on the waiting list and the approximate waiting times via the post

Should you have been discharged have a change in your condition and require re-referral, the new referral will be triaged based on the new information received.

If you are over 65 years (over 55 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) you need to have tested eligibility for Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) prior to referral. Please call 1800 200 422. Exceptions to these are listed for each discipline below.

NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Services are available at Western Health for therapeutic supports, home modifications and continence nursing. The individual services that are able to accept NDIS referrals are listed for each discipline.

For some services a fee does apply. You will be notified at point of booking that a fee is associated. Please refer to our fee schedule for further information.
