General Information

All referrals for medical specialist services require a GP (General Practitioner) referral.

Once received the referral will be registered and sent to the specialist to be triaged.

All referrals are triaged into the following timeframes:

  • Urgent – you will receive a phone call to arrange an appointment
  • Waiting List – you will receive a letter notifying you that you have been placed on the waiting list and the approximate waiting times via the post.

Should your condition change whilst on the waiting list please see your doctor and ask them to send updated information.

All Medical Specialist Services offered at Western Health have no out of pocket fees. Some services are run under the Medicare Benefit Scheme (MBS) based services. This will be discussed with you when you book your appointment.
